The 20th century Chambers dictionary defines an Architect as:
‘A Master-Builder – one who designs buildings and superintends their erection: a maker: any contriver, as the Creator.’
The architect, as the creator of any project at hand, must first develop a blueprint that captures the entire finished work before the actual building work can begin. He must also ascertain that the project is viable and will serve its purpose throughout it’s lifespan.
God is the Master Planner and Architect of the whole universe and His word tells us in various places that we ought to depend on Him for direction in every aspect of life.
In Ex. 25:8 ,9 He tells Moses, ‘Let them construct a sanctuary for Me, that I may dwell among them. According to all that I am going to show you, as the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furniture, just so you shall construct it.’ In Psalm 127:1, 2 we read:
Unless the Lord builds the house,They labour in vain who build it;Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep.
In Heb. 11:3 we read that: ‘By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.’
The Scriptures make it very clear that God is the Originator of all things, seen and unseen. This means that He is the One with the blueprint of how everything in the universe should function.
Even when God gave man dominion over His other creation as we see in the book of Genesis, He still desired to be a part of the goings on in order to superintend over all He had made, for the wellbeing of all. Because He is the only One with the original blueprint of how our lives and world ought to function, things end up in shambles when we don’t involve or consult Him.
Each creation of any architect always has a very specific purpose which they should serve during their entire lifespan. For example, a table can be used as a seat and vice versa; but that will not be putting either of them to their most optimal use. In the same way, though there can be a general plan that all of us can fit in, God has a very special plan for each of our lives. When we ask Him to show us the way, He is able to direct us along the right path. The beauty of it is that, all we need to do is ask and He will show us how to build according to His blueprint for our lives.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the blueprint that You have for each of our lives. Help us to desist from relying on what we think we know, but rather to always consult You in everything so that You may show us the way. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
